Halter is an agricultural technology platform harnessing the benefits of machine learning and advanced hardware to provide a first-of-its-kind solution to remotely guide and fence dairy and beef cows. The technology allows time and cost savings, advanced labour management, and high-fidelity control over pasture and feed resources for farmers.

Their advanced data model provides unparalleled and actionable alerts for cow health and nutrition, achieving incredible welfare changes for an industry that needs change, while also allowing clear environmental insights into grazing patterns to help minimise excess nitrate excretions near sensitive wetlands.

The challenge

Halter is a hardware-enabled and advanced digital platform for farming.

But there’s a certain level of mistrust when big-city coders and data scientists are telling you that their technology with solve your rural business problems.

The solution

Halter offers a revolutionary way to manage farms that frees up farmers from manual tasks and allows them to focus on high-skilled and value-add activities.

Farmers first

Who better to sell the benefits of Halter than the early adopters and innovators already using it? We designed the experience around Halter’s ebullient and loyal farmers, providing mixed-media kiosks to help them and the sales team have effective conversations with prospects. We also created limited-edition merch for each farmer, bearing an outline of their farm.

Show, don’t tell

At the heart of overcoming doubters was showing the technology in action. Live. Halter had videos on their website, but nothing could beat the opportunity to show thousands of prospects in-person how a Halter farmer moves his cows into the dairy shed, while he’s attending a trade show over 50kms away.

Value over technology

Halter’s technology is a tool just like a tractor or irrigation system; farmers are business owners who care what that tool can do for their bottom line. We designed an information hierarchy around value over features, ensuring that prospects could get to grips with their return on investment straight away.
